Al Hodge finaly lost his two year battle with cancer on the 6th of July 2006.
Dave Quinn - "Not only was he a hugely generous person, and the audience could feel that, he had a great sense of humour both with wise cracks to the audience and in his music which always thrilled me, that's probably why we survived so long as a playing team.
I've heard people say that he was the westcountry's finest son of the guitar, maybe in England.
But I've played all over the world with him including at the centres of excellence which everyone knows, and he frightened the life out of them.
He was afraid of no one and there was many a well-known guitar player walk up to him afterwards and say, 'My,my!'
I'll always remember him as a world - class musician but most of all I'll miss him as a great friend.
There'll never be anyone like Al Hodge again."
Al leaves a wife Pam and two children, Jodie and Luke, and his parents, Arthur and Sally Hodge
